At the St. Louis Language Immersion School (SLLIS), we educate the future leaders of the global economy. We instill intellectual curiosity and encourage intercultural dialogue through Chinese, French and Spanish language immersion programs. We believe that every child can learn and every child deserves access to bilingual, international, educational programs that attend to the whole child and their academic, social, physical, emotional, and cultural needs. SLLIS opened in 2009 with two elementary programs serving kindergarten to fifth grades (K-5): The French School and The Spanish School. We soon grew to include The Chinese School (K-5) and The International School (grades 6-8). The three elementary schools follow the internationally recognized “Primary Years Programme” of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization and operate as authorized IB schools. Our Community Support
St. Louis Language Immersion School Inc. is a federal non-profit organization led by a board of active community members invested in renewing international educational programs in St. Louis. SLLIS is funded primarily by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and guided by a charter agreement with our primary sponsor, the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). All of our schools follow the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education educational standards and protocols, and UMSL conducts regular reviews of our work.
