The International Baccalaureate® (IB) offers an international education framework that develops the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills needed to live and work in a rapidly globalizing world.
SLLIS is authorized by the IB organization to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP). IB presents schools with a comprehensive plan for high quality, international education.
The IB framework structures learning around six cross-discipline concepts:
- Who we are.
- Where we are in place and time.
- How we express ourselves.
- How the world works.
- How we organize ourselves.
- Sharing the planet.
IB provides SLLIS with a framework of five essential elements: the knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes, and action that young students need to equip them for success now and in the future. SLLIS works with these five elements to construct a rigorous and challenging curriculum.
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.
The MYP curriculum framework comprises eight subject groups: language acquisition; language and literature; individuals and societies; sciences; mathematics; arts; physical and health education; and design.
