AF3D1108Our students learn to communicate and learn in both English and their chosen immersion language. As they continue their studies, students receive equal amounts of instruction in both languages, developing grade-level fluency in both languages.

Here’s what you should expect by grade level:

Kindergarten – First Grade:

  • 100 percent instruction in Chinese, French or Spanish during the day during kindergarten through first grade.
  • English used for before and after school programs.

Second – Fifth Grade:

  • 80 percent of instruction in Chinese, French or Spanish during the day.
  • English used for before and after school programs.
  • Formal, daily language arts classes in English.
  • During the second semester of second grade, language arts in English become a part of the daily curriculum.
  • Latin enrichment classes introduced in fourth and fifth grades at The French School and The Spanish School.

Sixth – Eighth Grade:

  • 50 percent of instruction in French or Spanish.
  • Language arts and literature classes in French or Spanish.
  • Formal, daily language arts and literature classes in English.
