Uniform Guidelines
Why wear uniforms?
Our uniform policy is designed to teach students about appropriate dress for different events. Unlike many uniform schools, our goal is not to have all of our students look the same, but to teach our students how their dress impacts their performance. Our uniform provides learning opportunity for our students and the chance to involve the entire school community in the decision-making process. Each week students at every grade level wear all three levels of the school uniform.
What are the uniform colors?
The uniform colors are: Red, Light Blue, Navy, Gray, and White

What to wear? On typical school days students will wear:
- Navy or gray bottoms (pants, shorts, skorts, skirts, or jumpers)
- Button down shirts in uniform color
- Tie in uniform color(s)
- Optional sweater or vest in uniform color(s)
- Shoes in uniform color(s) or black
On Formal Dress days students also wear a navy blazer.
On PE/Yoga days students wear:
- Collared polo-style shirts in uniform color
- Navy or gray bottoms (pants, shorts, skorts, skirts, or jumpers -- no sweats)
- Athletic shoes in uniform color(s) or black
Each school/grade level may have assign the three types of uniforms to different days based on their schedule. Consult your classroom teacher team for your uniform schedule.
Where/how to purchase? SLLIS works with three vendors for uniform purchases: Lands' End (PSN: 900133281) Cookies (school code: SLLIS) and South Side Outlet (request SLLIS). Additionally, the Parents Assembly organizes uniform resales for gently worn pieces.
Families are free to purchase their uniforms from any uniform supplier. Thanks to generous financial support, SLLIS subsidizes the cost of uniforms. Every family is eligible for a maximum $50 uniform voucher per child. Families who qualify for free or reduced lunch will also qualify for a maximum $100 uniform voucher per child. SLLIS uniform vouchers are non-transferable and are only valid at South Side Outlet.
